Hi, I’m LUCY

The founder of Bristol Hypopressives.

I’m a hypopressives coach and well-woman yoga therapist, and I help women regain control of their pelvic health and wellbeing so you can feel lifted in both body and mind.

I’ve been there, I know what it’s like to have to change your wet underwear and trousers from just walking down the street, I know what it feels like to wear pads daily, I know what it feels like to have to stop doing the exercise you love, I know how depressing it feels to have to assist your stools out. I also know what it’s like to have tried everything!

After trying many conservative methods, in 2021 my persistent leaking and bulging was investigated by the NHS, who diagnosed me with a rectocele prolapse and over-active bladder. The prescribed course of action was medication and possible surgery, but I was sure there must be a way to heal my body without such extreme medical intervention.

I had a tip off from my lovely physio about hypopressives and a hunt around the internet led me to an online 1.1 hypopressives course. I enrolled straight away and noticed improvements in my symptoms within as little as four weeks. I went from leaking whilst walking to being able to run without leaking. My rectocele prolapse took longer, but I’m happy to say that my symptoms no longer affect my quality of life.  I can dance, run after my kids, go for long walks and go out without worrying where the nearest toilet is! On top of that I noticed improved strength in the rest of my body, a sense of calm and I can now swim a whole length underwater.

Having seen such amazing improvements to my pelvic health and general wellbeing, I knew I had to become a coach and spread the practice to as many women as possible. In February 2022 I trained as a Level 1 hypopressives coach with the International Hypopressives Council, and in October 2023 completed my Level 2. I then trained with Low pressure Fitness and continue to learn from both schools. In August 2023 I started up Bristol Hypopressives, offering in-person and online sessions and programmes to guide women in the postures and breath work that have had such a positive impact on my life. I weave both yoga and hypopressives into my offerings building support that is great for both body and mind.
